Logging your food is the best way to understand, thoroughly, how much you are eating and what you need more of in your diet. I highly recommend MyFitnessPal as a mobile app/site. I have used this tool for almost a year and have lost 11 pounds. I never understand how many calories I was truly consuming until I started logging absolutely everything I was eating on a daily basis.
